The Gemmer-Estola Quartet is once again operative in the ‘Capital of Northern Scandinavia’. The group, which features the baritone and alto saxophone playing of Aske Drasbæk and the double bass stylings of Morten Haxholm.

“A quartet based in Copenhagen with a twist of Oulu. Everybody brings something to the table and then it gets played.” As the group co-leader and drummer-wizard, Olli Estola, poignantly puts it.

The group will play twice at the Elojazz 2013 festival, and future activity on the Danish scene has been decided favourably upon at a late-night sauna session.
